1) We have opened up a fundraiser through our LoveLeavingLegacy with Lilla Rose hair accessories business. When anyone shops through that fundraiser link, all minimum 30% profits will be donated to Haidyn’s Reece’s Rainbow Adoption grant as soon as we receive our commission checks on November 10th and December 10th, 2019. If there are any other purchases through the link before it is closed, those will be applied also. Haidyn’s shopping link can be found here.

On November 11th, I will be starting a 5 Day Email Treasure Hunt for Haidyn using Lilla Rose products. If you would like to be added to this email event, please message requesting to be added. There will be a giveaway through the Email Treasure Hunt only, and only 5-6 emails total, one/day. The sixth one will close the Treasure Hunt and announce the giveaway winner. If you would like a Treasure Hunt of your own where you can earn Hostess rewards, I’m happy to donate 10% of the profits from your Email Treasure Hunt to Haidyn also.

I also will have a LoveLeavingLegacy group event for Haidyn (here) where any updated Coupon Codes, Customer Specials, new products, or sales will be announced, or questions can be asked. I’m also available through email. There will be no giveaway through that event, however.

2) As usual, we have many craft items that were donated to us in exchange for a suggested donation. We have three albums on Facebook with those items that we try to keep updated. If you are local, we are happy to open our home by appointment only on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons through the second week of December, as long as we are in town, for exclusive shopping of those items, or they can be shipped after sending the suggested donation through a Pay Pal’d invoice.

3) We also have a fun Pasta Fundraiser through Fun Pasta Fundraising where 40% of the profits are donated to his adoption grant. This fundraiser has begun, and ends November 30th, 2019. Click here to link to it.

4) If you would like, donations that are tax deductible can also be made online through Haidyn’s direct Reece’s Rainbow adoption grant link anytime, but only during November 1 and December 31, 2019 are the donations are applied to our goal of $1K. Checks may also be sent to Reece’s Rainbow, PO Box 146, Combined Locks, WI 54113. Be sure to indicate Haidyn in the memo.

If you are unable to help with our fundraisers, please most importantly consider praying for him and his future family.

Thank you for considering helping us find Haidyn a forever family for Christmas, 2019, and for helping us raise some of the funds to do so.

Blessings,
The Wielhouwer Family

How To Create Beachy Waves For Your Hair In Five Easy Steps

It’s no secret. I am bored stiff growing out my neurosurgeon undercut hair style. While I am grateful he was able to remove my acoustic neuroma tumor, and I’m thankful for the skilled hands of his “day job”, I hope he’s never a hair stylist on the side. Growing a 2 by 8 inch section of my hair around my ear from my face to behind my ear for more than 9 months has been tedious, and I’ve grown weary of my inability to do much with my hair while I wait. I shortened my hair length once my head incision was healed and a little less tender in May, at 6 months post op. For most of this time, I’ve been wearing it down, or pulled back into a half back-not even a full half up- while that shaved hair grows. There were other patchy areas of my head affected by surgery too where hair needed to regrow. It’s been a series of not pretty events.

Many months ago, Lilla Rose released a new product, Sea Salt Spray, used to create and hold beachy waves. While my hair and all my daughters hair was very long, we were not impressed when we did a test pilot run of the product. We felt like it made our hair sticky, greasy, and weighted it down.

However, in the past few weeks, due to the boredom with my hair and the limited ways I can wear it, and noting that the regrowth is at the awkward stage of sticking out in any direction it wants, no longer being hidden by longer hair, I decided to try the Sea Salt Spray again. Now I can honestly say, I at least like it well enough to use it for the purpose of creating waves. For the time being, it is allowing me a different option for a daily easy hair style. When I was much younger, I always longed for loose curls. I don’t have curls, but at least I have loose waves.

LoveLeavingLegacy receives compensation from the companies whose products we review. We tested and reviewed the products listed in this post. We are independently owned and the opinions expressed here are our own.

What I’ve been doing:

  1. After washing my hair, I wrap it in my Lilla Rose hair towel for about 15 minutes.
  2. I brush out my damp hair with my Wet brush, spray in Lilla Rose Rose Water to tame my wiry silver hair strands, and blow dry the top back and my forehead area to create some lift.
  3. I finger comb my top areas into place, and scrunch the remainder of my hair while spraying Lilla Rose Sea Salt Spray.
  4. I then let it air dry, but I continue to scrunch my entire head is dry.
  5. I’ve also been pulling what would be my bang area back a little and securing with a bobby pin or Lilla Rose mini hair clip to keep my hair out of my face. Sometimes I spray in additional Sea Salt Spray to tighten the beachy wave just a little bit.

Recipe: Slow Cooker Chicken, Pineapple, Peach, And Mango Over Rice

We got two huge fifty pound boxes of peaches from The Peach Truck at our local family owned nursery, Wedel’s Nursery, Florist, and Garden Center. They are ripening on our dining room table as we eat them, use them in smoothies, crisps, or in recipes like tonight’s dinner.

I’ve recently started using Shipt for grocery shopping. My groceries are delivered from our local Meijer. It’s been a huge help to not use all my energy solely on grocery shopping. I can focus on other aspects of running my household and doing my therapies. I’m still learning this, but managing my household doesn’t mean “I do it all.” It means I manage what needs to be done.  In leadership business circles, managing often means delegating. I’m choosing to delegate my grocery shopping to Shipt as part of my household leadership and management.

As I recently wrote, in my e-book 9 Nutrients for Healthy Hair, I’ve focused on foods that contain the nine main nutrients. I’ve actually craved protein, so thankfully we have chickens who lay lots of eggs! I love chicken. I’ve craved foods high in lots of vitamin C, like red peppers and berries. I’ve wanted avocado, watermelon, peaches, and grapes. I can’t wait for those tomatoes and squash to finish growing in our garden!

I placed my order first thing this morning, and had my groceries in my kitchen in time to make this slow cooker dinner. I had plenty of peaches to add to this meal. I love having a well stocked, well organized pantry to shop from as well!

This recipe is enough for our family to have for two meals. I also love time saving by preparing one meal for two nights. The strategy is part of my household management philosophy: work once for time savings.

This could also be served in burritos, tacos, or with chips instead of over rice.

This has become a family favorite, and it’s quick and easy on a busy night. I hope your family enjoys it as much as ours has.

Blessings,

Deb
